Qualified Medical Evaluations (QME)

A Qualified Medical Evaluation (QME) is a comprehensive psychiatric assessment performed by a physician certified by the California Division of Workers’ Compensation. Dr. Williams conducts psychiatric QMEs to provide objective medical-legal opinions in workers’ compensation matters. A psychiatric QME is used to:

✔ Establish psychiatric causation and industrial injury relationships
✔ Determine whole person impairment under the AMA Guides
✔ Evaluate apportionment between industrial and non-industrial factors
✔ Assess need for future psychiatric medical care
✔ Provide an objective basis for legal adjudication

Dr. Williams conducts QMEs in full compliance with California Labor Code, DWC regulations, and AMA impairment standards, delivering thorough and defensible psychiatric evaluations.

Independent Medical Evaluations (IME)

An Independent Medical Evaluation (IME) is an objective psychiatric assessment performed when a neutral medical opinion is required outside of the treating relationship. IMEs are typically requested by attorneys, employers, insurance carriers, or third parties in civil litigation or disputed claims. An IME is used to:

✔ Establish medical causation and diagnostic clarity
✔ Assess the extent of psychiatric injury or illness
✔ Determine functional capacity and work restrictions
✔ Evaluate treatment necessity and appropriateness
✔ Provide an independent medical opinion for legal proceedings

Dr. Williams conducts IMEs with strict objectivity, comprehensive record review, and evidence-based psychiatric analysis to ensure accurate, clearly documented, and defensible findings.
